Hatha yoga and Natha tradition

Svatmarama

Svatmarama was a 15th-century Indian yogi of the Gorakhpanth lineage who compiled the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the most influential classical manual of Hatha yoga. The text systematizes asana, pranayama, mudra, and samadhi practices, tracing its teachings back through the Natha lineage to Matsyendranath. No reliable biographical dates survive; he is known entirely through his foundational text.
