Anomalous phenomena and Fortean research
Charles Fort's first and most famous work, a massive compilation of anomalous phenomena that science has 'damned' or ignored. Drawing on decades of library research, Fort presents thousands of reports of 'red rains', falls of fish and stones from the sky, unidentified flying objects, strange animal sightings, and other events that defy conventional scientific explanation. The book is written in a highly idiosyncratic, sardonic style, challenging the foundations of academic certainty and suggesting that the Earth might be a property of higher, indifferent intelligences. It is the founding text of modern anomalistics (popularly known as 'Forteana').
