Science of religion and Eastern philosophy
A highly influential and beautifully compiled 'gospel' of Buddhist teachings, structured similarly to the Christian New Testament. Paul Carus, a major figure in the dialogue between Eastern religion and Western science, synthesized numerous ancient Buddhist scriptures (the Tripitaka) into a coherent narrative of the Buddha's life and philosophy. The work focuses on the ethical and philosophical aspects of Buddhism—such as the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, and Nirvana—presenting them as a 'Religion of Science' compatible with modern rationality.
