Comparative mythology and mythography
The second volume of Jacob Bryant's influential and idiosyncratic study of human origins through the lens of mythology. In this volume, Bryant continues his 'analysis' by focusing heavily on the history of the Cuthites and the Amonians (descendants of Ham). He argues that all ancient mythology is a corrupt version of the biblical history of the Deluge and the Diaspora. Bryant uses etymological analysis of ancient names (his 'Radicals' system) to link Egyptian, Babylonian, and Greek legends to the family of Noah. This work is foundational for the 'myth-as-distorted-history' school of thought.
