Theosophical talismanic gem lore
1870 – 1937
English jeweller and occultist connected to the Theosophical Society, William Thomas Pavitt co-authored with his wife Kate The Book of Talismans, Amulets and Zodiacal Gems (1914), synthesising Hindu, Jewish, Egyptian, Gnostic, and Christian gem lore. He explored the symbolic and magical properties of precious stones across traditions, advertising gemstones for occult purposes in Theosophical journals.
