Neoplatonism, Platonic mysticism, Paganism
1758 – 1835
Thomas Taylor (1758–1835), known as Taylor the Platonist and Taylor the Pagan, was the first person to translate the complete works of both Plato and Aristotle into English, as well as the Orphic fragments and writings of Plotinus, Proclus, and Iamblichus. A sincere practitioner of ancient Greek theology, his translations profoundly shaped the esoteric and Romantic traditions, directly influencing William Blake, Percy Shelley, Blavatsky, and the broader Western occult revival.
