Paschal Beverly Randolph was a 19th-century African-American occultist, spiritualist, and trance medium who pioneered the Western doctrine of sex magic, teaching that sexual will could be harnessed for spiritual and physical transformation. He founded the Fraternitas Rosae Crucis in 1858, establishing the oldest Rosicrucian organization in the United States, and authored over fifty works on magic and medicine.
