Hermetic alchemy and Golden Dawn

Julius Kohn

Julius Kohn was an Austrian occultist and associate of Rev. W.A. Ayton, a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, who produced the first major English scholarly edition of Splendor Solis (1920), the celebrated 16th-century alchemical manuscript attributed to Salomon Trismosin. Published by Kegan Paul in London, Kohn's edition — which included an introduction and explanatory notes on the symbolic paintings — remained the definitive English text for decades.
