H.G. Evelyn-White

1884 – 1924

Hugh Gerard Evelyn-White was an English classicist, archaeologist, and Egyptologist educated at Wadham College, Oxford. His translation of Hesiod, the Homeric Hymns, and Homerica for the Loeb Classical Library (1914) remained the standard English edition for decades and is still widely cited by scholars of Greek mythology and archaic religion.
